You guessed it, another unfortunate look!

This one is of Jacquelyn Scieszka from the Netflix adaption of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events book series.

The interesting thing about Jacquelyn is that she is NOT in the books (unless I totally missed her, feel free to comment her book appearance below if I have).

However, she is a fantastic edition to the cast of Volunteers and noble adults that are few and between in the Baudelaire orphans' lives.

Jacquelyn (portrayed by Sara Canning) is Mr. Poe's administrative assistant and is a part of the secret organization that holds the answers to the questions surrounding the tragic loss of the Baudelaire parents. Despite Jacquelyn's incompetent boss, she manages to assist the Baudelaire orphans and help them escape Count Olaf's clutches on many occasions.

How can we create a Jacquelyn inspired look? Keep Reading.

What you will need:

1. Neutral Matte Eyeshadows: A pink taupe, a cool taupe, a rich brown, and a light beige will give a natural contour to the eye.

2. Gel Eyeliner: You could use a liquid if you like, but I like the precision of gel when I'm trying to get close to the lash line and make it look more natural.

3. Nude or Skin Tone Eyeliner Pencil: A liner in a similar color to your skin tone will make your eyes look bigger and more "doe-like" when used on the lower waterline.

4. Black Mascara: For Jacquelyn we want lashes with length and definition without looking like we are wearing false lashes.

5. A Contour, Highlight and Blush: A soft brown contour, an off white highlighter, and nude pink blush will help sculpt the face without looking over done.

6. Red Liquid Lipstick: I like liquid because it gives me the ease of "drawing" the color on my lips to get the shape I want.

Jacquelyn's makeup is very subtle and the goal is to keep it as natural as possible. 

The most distinct part of Jacquelyn's makeup is her bright red lipstick.

Violet Baudelaire | A Series of Unfortunate Events | Makeup

  Dear Readers,

 If you are interested in posts with happy endings then I suggest you find another blog to read. Not only does this post have no happy ending, it also has no beginning and very few happy parts in the middle. I advise you to look away because this post and tutorial are filled with nothing but misery and woe.

(Where is book the fifth?)

In case you haven't figured it out from the title of this post or my very nearly plagiarized introduction, my makeup look this week is from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events book series that has recently been adapted into a show by Netflix (talk about a run on sentence).

I have been a fan of this series since I was a young teenager and was thrilled when I saw Netflix's adaption. Season one and two are currently available to stream and I highly recommend you give this dreadful show a watch.

The series centers on the three Baudelaire children who lose their parents in a fire and are forced to live with a less than suitable guardian named Count Olaf who is only interested in getting his hands on the Baudelaire fortune.

Through a series of unfortunate events the Baudelaire orphans encounter many different guardians and find themselves in the middle of a mystery involving a secret organization that holds the answer to the many questions surrounding their parents demise, all while being pursued by the treacherous Count Olaf. The word pursued used here means chased through land, sea, air, mountainous terrane, and a host of other locales.

 Read the books, watch the show, become a volunteer, join the mystery.

My makeup look is based on the eldest child, Violet Baudelaire. Violet is portrayed by Malina Weissman in the Netflix show.

Violet is fourteen in the series and doesn't where much, if any makeup.

So my strategy was to attempt the flawless skin and wide-eyed look that Malina has as Violet, and pretty much all the time.

Very few products were involved in this look. I used two shadows; one to highlight, one for color and contour.

I tried to contour and highlight my face to make it more similar to her face shape.

Too Faced | Life's A Festival Palette | Review & Tutorial

Now for a review of Too Faced's Life's A Festival Palette.

Literally the perfect palette for festivals and summer parties!

 Inside and out it is a lovely palette.

There are matte shades and shimmery pearl shades.

But my favorite part is the "duo-chrome" shades that reflect different colors depending on the way the light hits it.

For example the shadow Artist Pass (which I use in my video) looks gray-blue and bronze.

You can see it a little in the picture above, where I used Artist Pass in the crease and on the inner and outer lid.

Another great feature of this palette is their beautiful Unicorn Tears highlighter. 

It gives a pearly blue-ish finish that can also reflect purple.

These shadows are ultra pigmented. I didn't even use an eyeshadow primer with them.

There is very little fall out, even the shimmery colors stay put.

They are super blendable and have a sweet candy scent.

Makeup Haul | Spring 2018

It's been a little while since my last post and video.

So, I'm going to catch you up on the products (and places) I have been loving this spring!

1. Too Faced - Best Year Ever: Makeup Collection

 Three Palettes each with six eyeshadows and each palette has one face product (blush, bronzer/contour, highlighter).

It also comes with a travel size of their cult-classic mascara and a look book to get you started.

All of this comes in a cute gold carrying case that I have already gotten a ton of use out of.

The shadows and face products have good color pay off and are matte and shimmer finishes.

*Side Note: Let's talk about customer service:

I purchased this lovely set during Too Faced's 'Need It' sale on their website.

It had been a few days since my purchase and I was concerned that the order had been lost because I had not received an order confirmation or any shipping notices.

So, I contacted Too Faced's customer service via email and was assured my order was on its way and that it was just backed up due to the sale.

No problem, I was happy as long as it was coming.

A few weeks ago I received an email from Too Faced saying that due to the delay in shipping of my order, they are going to give me 25% off and free shipping on my next order from their website.

2. Urban Decay - Toublemaker Eyeshadow Palette

I went to Destiny USA Mall for the day and went to Nordstrom Rack.

I bought this little palette, which comes with a travel size Troublemaker mascara.

I think this palette is also available on Sephora's website.

The colors are edgy and lean more towards cool tones.

The mascara gives nice lengthen, however I would say it comes in second to their Perversion mascara.

3. It's Sugar - Elvis T-Shirt

All marshmallow cereal does exist!

It's Sugar is the cutest candy store with every kind of candy you can imagine. 

They have giant boxes of gummy bears, Starburst, etc.

I, of course, did what every normal persons does in a candy store: I bought an Elvis T-Shirt!

I was saving my sugar money for...

4. Lindt Store - Chocolate

150 pieces. $40. Need I say more?

*A little more on Destiny USA Mall:

It has numerous stores, a ton of restaurants (I ate at Cheescake Factory), a movie theater and IMAX, a bowling alley, an escape room, an interactive mystery museum, go-karts, and so much more!

 

5. Urban Decay - Vice Liquid Lipstick 

I had to order from Sephora so I could get a free gift for getting older.

One of my purchases was Vice lipstick from Urban Decay in the color Purgatory.

It is a pretty wine-purple shade with gold glitter. 

The color goes on sheerer but it can be built up for a more intense shade.

For about $9 it was a steal from UD ;-)

6. Too Faced - Life's a Festival Palette

I am literally in LOVE with this palette! I'm doing a proper review video on it now, so stay tuned!

7. Sephora - Bite Beauty Lip Set

Signing up to be a Sephora Beauty Insider is nothing but wins:

Candy Colored Lipstick Quartet

About 4-years ago I wrote a post about using four different lipstick colors (which you can see here).

This was before the good camera, before I made videos, before the better lighting.

So, decided to give it another try with these new additions and some even bright colors.

With colors like these Liquid Suede Cream Lipsticks from NYX how could I resist?!

After agonizing over which colors to choose I opted for Orange County (true orange), Sway (lavender/lilac), Kitten Heels (bright red), and Little Denim Dress (sky blue).

And the insanity ensued:

I started on my upper lip because it is easier to distinguish a middle line, where to end the first shade.

Be sure to let each shade dry for about a minute in between, otherwise the first shade will get on the brush of the next shade, and then you will have a mess.

The lower lip is a little trickier because you don't want the top and bottom to touch until they are completely dry or the colors will transfer (at this point, talking becomes complicated -- see video).

And there you have it!

The circus? Clown? Jester? Fun/Avant garde lipstick look.

Great for a masquerade or costume party.
