ipsy | November 2018 | Review

Quite a bit later posting this than I had anticipated, but sometimes family emergencies happen (everyone is fine).

You can check out my super short video review here:

Here is my in depth review of my November Glam Bag from ipsy.

I was a little unclear on November's theme. It was either "wear your heart on your sleeve" or "friendsgiving". Not sure which one, but not the end of the world.

Quick Stats

Number of products I will use regularly: 4 (out of 5)
Star Rating for Bag: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⋆
Thoughts on this month’s bag overall: Pretty pleased with the variety of products and the products themselves. Would have liked a different nail polish shade.

In no particular order, my thoughts on the individual products.

1. CIATÉ LONDON: Wonderwand Mascara in Black Magic

Brand: Ciaté London
Product: Mascara
Name of Shade: Black Magic
Color: Carbon Black
Formula: Lengthening & Volumizing
Wand Shape: Hourglass

Pros: A rich, thick, true-black mini mascara. It doesn't smudge or flake, and to the extent that I tested it, it is waterproof.
Cons: The only real con, if you can even call it that, is that sometimes it makes my lashes so long that they bump my browbone before they dry. Super easy to fix and in my opinion a fair tradeoff.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would I Purchase a Full Size? Yes
Final thoughts: A fanrastic mascara that gives volume and length and lasts all day. It has easily become my "go-to".

2. LOTTIE LONDON Blush in Zayn

Brand: Lottie London
Product: Blush
Name of ShadeZayn
Color: Pink Rose
Finish: Matte
Formula: Powder

Pros: Super smooth and incredibly blendable. Color goes on sheerer but can be built up for a rosier, brighter look. Long lasting and is a universally flattering color.
Cons: It is, ever so slightly, chalky.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⋆
Would I Purchase a Full Size? Maybe.
Final thoughts: A good blush that gives you the option of sheer or intense pigment.

3. SUGAR COSMETICS Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick in Trusty Rusty

Brand: Sugar Cosmetics
Product: Lipstick
Name of Shade: Trusty Rusty
Color: Red
Finish: Matte
Formula: Liquid

Pros: Extremely pigmented, one swipe gives rich intense color. The finish is matte but it isn't drying or uncomfortable like other mattes. It doesn't smudge (or budge) and it lasts for hours.
Cons: Not truly a product drawback, but I wish the sample vial was bigger lol.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would I Purchase a Full Size? Yes
Final thoughts: A beautiful true-red liquid lipstick with a comfortable matte finish that lasts all day.

4. INARA COSMOBEAUTY Nail Polish in Proud Coat

Brand: INARA COSMOBEAUTY
Product: Nail Polish
Name of Shade: Proud Coat
Color: Nude
Finish: Cream (Standard)
Number of Coats to Get Bottle Shade: 2
How Long Before Chipping: 1.5 weeks (but I wash a lot of dishes)

Pros: A sturdy polish that can take a lot of hits before chipping.
Cons: The shade is not really my taste.

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⋆⋆
Would I Purchase a Full Size? Maybe, in a different shade.
Final thoughts: Nothing out of the ordinary, but a good, shiny polish that has decent staying power.

5. SJP BEAUTY Born Lovely created by Sarah Jessica Parker

Brand: SJP BEAUTY
Product: Eau De Parum Rollerball
Name of Scent: Born Lovely
Scent: Sweet, Fresh, Floral
Duration of Scent: All day+

Pros: Not too over powering, not too subtle. Long lasting and in convenient rollerball for on-the-go application
Cons: None

Star Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Would I Purchase a Full Size? Yes!
Final thoughts: A truly "lovely" fragrance!

Here is one of the looks I created with some of November's products:

Products:
CIATÉ LONDON: Wonderwand Mascara in Black Magic
LOTTIE LONDON: Blush in Zayn
SUGAR COSMETICS: Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick in Trusty Rusty

Too Faced | Dream Queen Makeup Collection | Review, Tutorial & Swatches

I wait all summer for Too Faced to release their seasonal fall/winter palette and makeup collection.
And their 2018 Dream Queen limited-edition makeup collection, available exclusively at Sephora, did not disappoint!

Video tutorial here:

What it Comes With:

- Makeup Palette
 - Dreamy Lips Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Pink Swan
- Travel-Size Hangover Setting & Prepping Spray
- Mini size of their famous mascara and...

- Large fold-over makeup bag

Makeup Palette

Eyeshadows:

24 lovely eyeshadows with matte, shimmer, pearl, and metallic finishes.
All of the shadows are velvety soft and have excellent pigmentation.
Even the glittery foils have minimal fallout.

Swatches

Some of the lighter shades don't show up super well on my fair skin, but they are beautiful shades and I often use them as a subtle highlight for the browbone.
Top to bottom:
Twinkle (a pearly bone shade with a hint of gold shimmer), Polar Bear Hug (a light taupe shimmer),
Let's Kringle (a matte terracotta brown), Snowball Effect (a matte cream color),
Son of a Nut-Cracker (a reddish brown matte), Keep Your Hands to Your Elf (soft metallic pink),
Let's Roll (matte warm plum), Special Delivery (matte black)

Top to bottom:
Wrap it Up (bright peach shimmer), Unwrapped (matte cinnamon brown),
All the Jingle Ladies (metallic bronze), Pink Flurries (matte raspberry pink),
Kiss Miss (matte carnation pink), Holy Grail (iridescent gray-brown teal),
Christmas Cheer (shimmering mahogany brown), Silver Bells (metallic silver)

Top to bottom:
Secret Santa (matte light brick), Christmas Cookies (chocolate brown shimmer),
Here for the 'Hos (espresso brown shimmer), Cozy Up (metallic currant red).
S'elfies (mallow shimmer), Santa's Bakeshop (light mauve matte),
Christmas FOMO (pearly bright violet), Holly Daze (shimmery teal).

Face Time:

It also comes with (top to bottom):
1 highlighter in Snow Extra (shimmery champagne) which looks quite dark in the pan but it blends to a beautiful lit-from-within glow.
2 blushes in Sweet on Santa (pearly coral) and Winterberry (rose pink with fine glitter).
1 Bronzer in Chestnuts Roasting (dark amber).
These face colors are universally flattering and are so blendable. It is so easy to customize a shade by blending it into your skin or mixing with another shade.

This spectacular palette is enough to keep any makeup lover entertained for hours, but as mentioned above there's more...

Extras

Mascara: Their mascara is famous for a reason; it is a phenomenal product!
It has a super rich formula and gives the appearance of false lashes.
If I over sleep and don't have time to do much, if any, makeup, I use this mascara and it pulls my whole look together.
Lip Gloss: This is a very nice gloss. Not too sticky, gives a hint of color, and high shine.
It can also be used over a lipstick for extra shine.

Setting Spray: As mentioned in my video, I have never been a big believer in makeup setting sprays. I always thought that they are just water and wildly overpriced.
But, since this collection came with one, I figured, why not give it a go?
I was pleasantly surprised! I used it to set my makeup and 12-hours later, my makeup was still perfect, as if I had just applied it.
Now I'm a believer. This spray has coconut water and probiotic-based ingredients.
It can also be used to prep skin for makeup application.

Makeup Looks

There are endless looks to create with this makeup set.
Every time I use it I am thrilled with the results.
Here are just a few of the looks I've created so far:

Polar Bear Hug on browbone
Christmas Cheer on lid
Here for the 'Hos in the crease
S'elfies on center of lid
Chestnuts Roasting (bronzer) under cheekbone
Snow Extra (Highlighter) on top of cheekbones
Winterberry (blush) under apples of cheeks
Mascara
Setting Spray
Lip Gloss

Snow Effect on browbone
Christmas Cookies on lid
Christmas Cheer in crease
Holy Grail on center of lid

Beauty Haul | Fall 2018

My favorite products, limited edition sets, and clothing come out for the fall/winter season.
So, it makes sense that I may go a little overboard on my shopping
(*Inner voice* "you can never go overboard when it comes to shopping").

You can watch the video haul here:

In no particular order, here are some of my favorite purchases (so far):

1. Too Faced: Glitter Bomb Palette

It's no secret that I love glitter, and this palette is like a glitter explosion!
These glitters are super versatile. There are 5 different ways to wear them!

1. Straight Up Eyeshadow: On a brush and placed directly on the lid. Minimal fallout, decent glitter and color payoff;
2. White, Brightening Base: It comes with a white eyeshadow to apply before the glitter shade of your choice. The result is a bright, glittery, lit-from-within appearance;
3. Black, Intensifying Base: The palette also includes a matte black eyeshadow that can be applied under the glitter shade. This combo gives a rich, vivid look against the sparkling glitter eyeshadow;
4. Damp Makeup Brush: Dampen a brush with water, dip in glitter shadow and apply to lid for an intense color and shimmer;
5. Ring-Finger, Center of Lid: To add a bit of extra sparkle to any eye look, dip ring-finger into a glitter shadow and press it onto the center of the eyelid.

My preferred method of application is using my ring-finger; it picks up the most glitter and color.
Too Faced also makes a glitter glue that helps keep every fleck of glitter in place.

#Bonus:

I received two free bonuses with my Too Faced order:

Too Faced: Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

TF's famous liquid lipstick in the shade Chihuahua, a warm, neutral brown shade, with a comfortable finish.

Too Faced: Born This Way Concealer Sample

A nice little sample card of their Born This Way concealer.
Smooth, blendable, and I'm definitely thinking of purchasing a full-sized bottle.

2. theBalm: Balm Voyage Vol. 2 Travel Palette

Another cutesy palette from theBalm Cosmetics.
I got this on sale at Cosmo Prof.

9 eyeshadows ranging from matte to shimmer finish and light to dark shades.
They have excellent staying power, and no creasing, even without a primer.
2 Blushes one in pink and one in coral, both shades blend nicely on the face.
1 highlighter in a champagne-y shade gives a subtle glow.
1 bronzer shade, which honestly, made me breakout.
That does not mean it will make you breakout, because everyone's skin reacts differently.
None of the other items in this palette made me breakout.
2 Lip/cheek colors one in a rosy shade and the other in a coral-y shade.
They give a nice tint of color to the lips. I don't use them on my face.

A great travel palette because it has everything you need to create a look on the go.

3. Bath & Body Works: Lotion, Shower Gel, Fragrance Mist

I am obsessed with Bath & Body Works winter scents!
So, I tend to go a little crazy when they are rereleased each year
(like climbing a shelf to get the last shower gel. I DO NOT recommend trying that).
And with coupons plus a 'Buy 3 Get 3 Free' sale, I was like a kid in a candy shop.

Vanilla Bean Noel: My all time favorite scent! I got the body lotion, shower gel, and Ultra Shea body cream because I like to channel my inner vanilla sugar cookie.
Twisted Peppermint: With fine fragrance mist & body cream, you too can be scented like a candy cane.
Winter Candy Apple: A light, sweet scent that makes you crave a candy apple.

Maybe I'm really just hungry for dessert when I shop for these.
Either way, these products are wonderful and not to be missed!

4. Too Faced: Dream Queen Limited-Edition Make Up Collection

I wait all year for Too Faced's seasonal makeup collection to arrive at Sephora.
And this year's has not disappointed!

24 beautiful and highly pigmented shadows
2 soft, blendable blushes
1 Shimmering highlighter
1 Bronzer shade
+
Hangover RX Setting Spray
Dreamy Lips Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Shade Pink Swan
Mini tube of their famous mascara
Fold-over bag

Such a fan of this set, I plan to do a separate review with swatches, so stay tuned!

5. Sephora Samples

First, I need to get this out there: REALLY Sephora?
You cut down the samples from three to two?
Half the time I didn't get the ones I chose anyway, so seriously?
I feel better now.

I am enjoying these samples though

bareMinerals: COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Vanilla 02, Natural 05, Tan 07, Chestnut 09
Dior: Joy

6. Sephora Bag

Okay, I forgive you, Sephora. I could never stay mad at you.
One of the beauty offers they had when I ordered was for a bag filled with goodies.
In this bag I got:

Briogeo: Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème
Glow Recipe: Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
Fresh: Soy Face Cleanser
Caudalie: Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
Lancôme: Définicils - High Definition Mascara
Urban Decay: All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
Tarte: Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint

I have only had a chance to try a couple of these products so far.
I do love what I have had a chance to use!

7. DSW: White Mountain Lida Boot - Women's - Black

Since we are currently experiencing our second snow storm this season, I didn't buy these boots any time too soon.
These boots are warm, comfortable, and I love the buckles.
These are my new go-tos.

8. Kohl's: Sweater, shirt, slippers

Candie's: Chenille Eyelash Long Sleeve Top in Soft Mauve

This is the softest, most comfortable sweater I've ever worn.
It comes in several colors, and I want them all 😄

SO: Plaid Button-Front Shirt

I'm such a sucker for plaid.
Every time I go to Kohl's, I head for the 80% off section and always buy some plaid.
Another color to add to my collection.

MUK LUKS: Scrunchy Boot Slippers

LC Lauren Conrad: Plush Boot Slippers in Gray

I'm such a nerd, but I love slippers!
Partly because I'm always cold, but also because these are incredibly cute!
Both of these are crazy comfy and let's just say it, adorable!

There you have my fall beauty/shopping haul (so far!)
I will do separate reviews of some of the makeup products, so be sure to subscribe via email so you are the first to know when they are posted!

Thanks for checking out the post,
