Kansas City Chiefs | Inspired Makeup Tutorial

UPDATED for 2024

Hey there, makeup and football fans!
In honor of Super Bowl LVIII (58) today I'm doing a Kansas City Chiefs inspired makeup tutorial.

I have a brand new San Francisco 49ers tutorial coming too so stay tuned for that.

I have mixed emotions about KC.
They knocked my Buffalo Bills out of contention a week ago๐Ÿ˜ž
But I'm a fan of Taylor Swift's music so...
There is no "Bad Blood" here ๐Ÿ˜‰

And just you wait for next season (Don't Stop Bill-ievin' ๐Ÿ˜)

Ultima Beauty wearing a Buffalo Bills jacket

I originally posted this tutorial last year when the Kansas City Chiefs were in Super Bowl LVII.
But, I've updated a few things and added duplicates for products that have since been discontinued.

Kansas City Chiefs colors are primarily red and yellow-gold with some white accents.
I went searching for a yellow eyeliner (not something I typically have in my makeup kit) and found a pretty decent option (although it broke when I used it ๐Ÿ˜…).

You can watch my video tutorial here

How to Create a Kansas City Chiefs Inspired Makeup Look

1. Matte Red Eyeshadow: Not a go-to shade for most, but it is absolutely essential for this look.
Take the shadow and layer it on eyelids, building color to get a nice opaque red.
Cover the lids stopping right at the crease and rounding the shadow as you meet the crease.

I used NYX Primal Colors in Hot Red which is the best red eyeshadow I have ever used. I'm so disappointed that NYX discontinued this color.
You can get a pretty close shade in their Ultimate Edit Petite Shadow Palette in Phoenix (50% off right now on their website).
Also, MAC Cosmetics Powder Kiss Eyeshadow in Werk, Werk, Werk is very similar.
Ultima Beauty applying red eyeshadow to eyelid with a flat eyeshadow brush

2. Yellow-Gold Eyeliner: Next we need a yellow/gold eyeliner. I ran the liner across my upper lash line a few times until I got the color I wanted.
Wing the liner out just a little bit. Also take the liner into the inner corners of the eyes.

I used Colourpop Crรจme Gel Liner in Toucan Do It.
It broke as I was using it. I thought maybe I was applying too much pressure on the eyeliner so I pressed lighter. A few minutes later it broke again.
I've never had a liner break while I was using it before.
I have Colourpop's Crรจme Gel Liner in Swerve, a black shade, and have used it many times without any breakage.
Maybe the pigments that give this one the yellow shade are softer?
Whatever the case, if you use this yellow liner be aware that it could break.
Ultima Beauty applying yellow gold eyeliner to upper lash line

3. White Eyeliner & Eyeshadow: Take a white eyeliner pencil and run it along the lower water line of the eye.
Then use a matte white eyeshadow and trace it through the lower lash line.
Use the same white shade on the brow bone to give a nice highlight and add that pop of white.

I used a white eyeliner pencil from N.Y.C. Color Cosmetics. It has since been discontinued.
But, NYX Slim Eye Pencil in White is a nice alternative.
The eyeshadow I used is 'Glitch' from Urban Decay's Wired pressed pigment palette.
If you don't have that palette Sephora Collection Sephora Colorful® Eyeshadow in Let it Snow is a lovely matte white shade.
Ultima Beauty applying white eyeshadow to brow bone with an eyeshadow brush

4. Mascara + Highlighter & Blush: Give the eye makeup a dramatic contrast with a black volumizing mascara on the top and bottom lashes.
Then use a shimmery white highlighter on the top of the cheek bones and on the high points of the face.
I used the red eyeshadow as a blush and blended it into the apples of the cheeks for a subtle flush.
Ultima Beauty applying red blush to face with a makeup brush

5. Red Liquid Lipstick: With a liquid lipstick trace around your lip line, like a liner, and then fill in the rest of the lips with the glossy red lipstick.

I used NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Absolute Red which has been discontinued also (come on, NYX!)
But Colourpop's Fresh Kiss Glossy Lip Stain in Big Apple is very close.

And finally we have...

Our Kansas City Chiefs inspired makeup look!

Red is definitely the main color in this makeup look. Eyeshadow, lips and accented by the gold and white.

I considered purchasing a white mascara but that seemed like it might be overkill (because this look is so subtle? ๐Ÿ˜„).
You could always add a little gold shimmer or loose glitter as a topper for the lipstick.

It's time to put on your game face, makeup fans!
In honor of the Super Bowl, I created a Cincinnati Bengals inspired makeup tutorial for you!

You can check out my LA Rams inspired makeup here

I don't really have a preference of who wins the Super Bowl this year. I like both teams.
Plus, the team I grew up watching every Sunday with my dad, the Buffalo Bills, are out.

That last playoff game vs the Chiefs had me on the edge of my seat, then broke me ๐Ÿ˜…
But I really admire Josh Allen and how he just went out on the field no matter how much time was left on the clock and just got the job done. I really admire his perseverance and drive. And I can't wait for next season to see what happens for him and the Bills ๐Ÿˆ

Anyway, back to our current season and the Bengals makeup tutorial.
You can watch my video tutorial here.

The color palette we're working with for the Cincinnati Bengals consists of orange, black, and white (you know, like a Bengal tiger ๐Ÿ…).

I don't own a lot of orange makeup, I don't think it looks great with my skin tone, but I do have my trusty NYX Avant Pop Art Throb palette that has plenty of colorful eyeshadows to choose from.
If you don't have that palette, fear not, I have included eyeshadow dupes below ๐Ÿ˜‰

So without any further discussion let's get started with my Cincinnati Bengals makeup tutorial.

Put Your Game Face [Makeup] On

Multiple makeup products & brushes spread across desk: MAC Studio Fix Powder, Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion, NYX Avant Pop! Shadow Palette in Art Throb Collection, MAC: Carbon Eyeshadow, LES Beauty Felt Tip Precision Point Eyeliner in Black, Sheer Cover Angled Eyeliner Brush, Beautique Defining Eye Pencil in Black, Tarte Double Duty Beauty™ Shape Tape™ Concealer, Bobbi Brown Cosmetics Smokey Eye Mascara in Black

1. Eyelid Primer + Orange Eyeshadow: For a smooth canvas apply an eyeshadow primer all over eyes, from lid to brow bone.
The foundation of this look is vibrant orange eyeshadow. Blend the orange eyeshadow all over eyelid and a bit into the crease of the eye, rounding the shape as you pack on the color and blend as you go along.

Dupes for the NYX Avant Pop Art Throb orange shade:

ColourPop: Pressed Powder Shadow in Koi (Matte)

ColourPop: Pressed Powder Shadow in Tangerine Dreams (metallic)
Ultima Beauty blending orange eyeshadow onto eyelid with an eyeshadow brush

2. Matte Black Shadow & a Small Flat Brush: Using a small flat eyeshadow brush trace a line through the crease of the eye starting by curving towards the inner eye and then slightly winging it out at the outer corner of the eye.
Ultima Beauty tracing black eyeshadow through the crease of the eye

3. Liquid Liner + More Black Shadow + Pencil Liner: Run a thin line of liquid liner across the upper lash line and create a bit of a wing. We want a matte finish so take more of the black eyeshadow on an angled eyeliner brush and trace it over the liquid liner to build color intensity.
On a small bent eyeliner brush add to the liner on the inner corners of the eyes, extending it out a bit for a feline effect.
Line lower water line with a black eyeliner pencil. Then run more (you guessed it) black eyeshadow along the lower lash line and create a second wing slightly under the first one, leaving a little blank space of skin showing.
Ultima Beauty lining lash line with an angled eyeliner brush

4. White Eyeshadow, Mascara and Contour & Highlight: Dust a pearly white eyeshadow onto the brow bone and in between the two shadow wings.
Coat top and bottom lashes with a black mascara so it will stand out against the orange shadow.
Add a subtle contour and highlighter; contour just under the cheek bones and highlight on top of them.

I used the white eyeshadow from NYX Avant Pop palette, a dupe for that shade:

ColourPop: Super Shock Shadow in Tassel
Ultima Beauty applying white eyeshadow between eyeliner wings with a small eyeshadow brush

5. Coral Blush & Orange Liquid Lipstick: An orange blush would be over kill, so use a coral pink one and dust it on to the apples of the cheeks.
Trace a vivid orange liquid lipstick around the lip line and then carefully fill in the rest of lips with the same shade.

Put all these steps together and we get...

I didn't go too crazy with the tiger stripes because I wanted it to be more wearable and less costume makeup.

Between my camera battery dying, and last minute appointments it took me three tries to record this look. My eyes were beginning to water from all of the makeup removing ๐Ÿ˜†

LA Rams | Super Bowl | Makeup Tutorial

It's game time!
In honor of Super Bowl LVI (56) I have updated my LA Rams inspired makeup post!

Check out the video tutorial here

I originally created this makeup tutorial in 2019 for Super Bowl LIII when the LA Rams took on the New England Patriots .

Cover photo from 2019's Rams post:

Rams makeup means lots of blues and golds!
I have updated this Rams post with better pictures and product dupes, so you can create your own LA Rams inspired makeup look!

What Will You Need For Game Day?

1. Primer and Gold Eyeshadow: To make sure the colors would go on smooth and opaque I put an eyeshadow primer all over the eye. Then I used a metallic gold shadow and ran it through the crease, wrapping it around and under the eye, kind of like a ram's horn (haha).

I used the gold shade Twisted from Urban Decay's Heavy Metals palette.
Other shadows that are similar:

๐ŸŒŸMAC eyeshadow in If It Ain't Baroque (closest match)

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Tankini

ColourPop Pressed Powder Shadow in Tiki
(Same shade but a matte finish, not metallic or shimmer)

NYX Prismatic Shadow in Gilded

2. Blue and More Blue Eyeshadow: I didn't have the exact shade I needed to match the Rams' jersey so I layered and blended two blue shadows, one from NYX Avant Pop Art Throb palette and one from their Ultimate Edit petite palette in Ash. I blended these all over the lid.

You don't have to mix a custom shade because I got you ๐Ÿ˜˜
Blue shadows:

๐ŸŒŸMAC eyeshadow in In the Shadows (closest match)

ColourPop Pressed Powder shadow in Backstage

NYX Hot Singles Eye Shadow in Electroshock

3. Gold Eyeliner Pencil: I took a blendable eyeliner and ran it along my upper lash line. Then I used a thin, angled brush to blend it out a tiny bit.

This eyeliner is still available from Beauty For Real ๐Ÿ˜‰

4. White Eyeliner and Shadow: I took a white eyeliner pencil and applied it to the lower water line. I added white eyeshadow (also from the Avant Pop palette) and put it on the browbone, inner corner of the eye, and about 1/2 way along the lower lash line.

I used white liner from N.Y.C Color but a couple good alternatives are:

ColourPop Crรจme Gel Liner in Exit Liner

NYX Retraceable Eye Liner in White

A good white shadow option:

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Tassel

5. Mascara, Concealer, Blue Liquid Lipstick: I used lengthening mascara in black so it would contrast against the blue and gold. I put concealer over my lips so the blue lipstick would go on more vibrantly. I mixed two NYX Liquid Suede blues, Little Denim Dress and Jet Set, to get a similar shade to the Rams' uniforms.
Oh! And don't forget to add some loose gold glitter to the upper lip ๐Ÿ˜‰

Both NYX Liquid Suedes are still available, or you could try:

MAC Lipmix in Blue

Wet n Wild Color Icon Multi-Stick in Blue Lah Lah

For the loose gold glitter:

MAC Glitter in 3D Brass Gold

NYX Face & Body Glitter Loose Glitter in Gold

And voila! We're Super Bowl ready!

A 2019 OG ๐Ÿคฃ

If I re-created this look today, I don't think I'd use glitter on the upper lip.
It looked cool in person, but it looks weird in pictures (maybe I just needed a better camera).

Again, you can check out the step-by-step tutorial here

Products for LA Rams makeup:

Elizabeth Mott: Thank Me Later Eye Primer

Philadelphia Eagles Inspired Makeup

Collage of five photos: Text reads "Ultima Beauty Philadelphia Eagles inspired Makeup". The Philadelphia Eagles are in Super Bowl LVII (57)!
And it is well deserved after the season they have had๐Ÿฆ…

I originally posted this Eagles inspired makeup look in 2018 for Super Bowl LII (which the Eagles won, btw).

I have updated it a bit for 2023 and added some dupes for the makeup products that have since been discontinued (Why? ๐Ÿ˜ญ)

You can watch my video tutorial here

The colors for the Philadelphia Eagles are midnight green, silver, black, and white.
Playing off the Eagles' logo, I attempted to create a "feather" like eye design.

Collage of three photos: text reads "Eagles Makeup" Photo 1: Ultima Beauty with Closed eyes wearing Philadelphia Eagles inspired makeup; Photo 2:Ultima Beauty with opened eyes wearing Eagles inspired makeup; Photo 3: Ultima Beauty with closed eyes wearing Eagles inspired makeup

How to create a Philadelphia Eagles Inspired Makeup Look

1. Eyeshadow Primer & Silver Shadow: To get a nice blank canvas to create our Eagles inspired eyeshadow, start with an eyeshadow primer all over eyes.
Next take a silver shimmer shadow and sweep that all over lids and bit into the crease.

I used the shade Mushroom by Urban Decay. At the time of this update (February 2023) it is still available for purchase ๐Ÿ˜€
Ultima Beauty with an eyeshadow brush on her eye

2. Black Eyeshadow & Liquid Eyeliner: Use a black eyeshadow on an angled eyeliner brush to start to etch out a feather-like shape. Start by tracing what resembles a crown across the crease of your eye, extending the points at an angle to give a more feathery appearance.
Next, go over the eyeshadow with a liquid eyeliner. Add additional "flicks" with the liner to enhance the feather idea.

The eyeshadow I used was MAC Black Tied which appears to have been discontinued (gasp!)
But Dazzleshadow Extreme from MAC in the shade 'Illuninaughty' is very close.
The liquid eyeliner I used is Fierce Flicks by Ciate London and is still available.
Ultima Beauty drawing eyeliner "flicks" on her eye with a liquid eyeliner pen

3. Green/Blue Eyeshadow & More Liquid Liner: On another angled eyeliner brush I took a jade eyeshadow (the closest shade I had to midnight green at the time) and traced lines next to the black ones, at about the same angle.
I used more liquid liner and ran it across my lash line and winged it out to connect it to the line in the crease.

I used Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Never Fade Jade, which has been discontinued.
A dupe for it and an even closer shade to the actual team color is' Conjour Up' pressed eyeshadow from Colourpop Cosmetics. A very affordable emerald-like green.
Ultima Beauty using an eyeshadow brush to add Jade eyeshadow "flicks" next to the black eyeliner "flicks"

4. Silver & Black Eyeliner + Mascara: Run a silver pencil liner along the lower water line.
Take a black pencil liner and do the same only across the lower lash line.
Give the lashes two coats of volumizing mascara, on top and bottom lashes.

The silver liner (ha-ha, get it?) I used was Ulta Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Silver Dust. The shade is discontinued but NYX Epic Wear Liner Stick Long Lasting Eyeliner Pencil in 'Silver Lining' is very close.
Smashbox liner & Tarte mascara are still on the market ๐Ÿ˜‰
Ultima Beauty using an eyeliner pencil to line lash line

5. White Pigment + Concealer + Highlighter: Take a shimmery white pigment on a small brush and tap it in between the jade and black shadows and in the inner corners of the eye for a nice highlight.
Clean up any shadow fallout there may be a liquid concealer.
Use a pearly light highlighter just on the high points of the face.

At the time of this update all three of these products were still available!
Ultima Beauty using a small eyeshadow brush to apply vanilla pigment to the inner corner of her eye

6. Vaseline + Eyeshadow: I didn't have a lip color in the right shade so I mixed my jade eyeshadow with some Vaseline to get a light jade gloss.
You can do the same with the Colourpop dupe; just scrape some shadow off and mix with Vaseline, or you could get a closer shade with something like NYX Shine Loud Shine High Lip Color in 'Self-Taught Millionaire'.
Ultima Beauty using a small brush to apply jade eyeshadow on top of Vaseline on lips

And then we get...

Our Philadelphia Eagles inspired makeup look!

I wanted to create a play off of the Eagle's feathers with the flicks and angles of the shadows.

Close up the right side of Ultima Beauty's face wearing Eagles inspired makeup with closed eyes.

I didn't have the exact shade of green back in 2018 so there is a slight variation on the shades but the overall idea of eagle feathers is still well represented.

Not the most wearable everyday makeup look but it's pretty fun for the Super Bowl.

A stronger lip color in a shade closer to the team's color would have worked wonders right here ๐Ÿ˜…
