Beauty Haul | Fall 2018

My favorite products, limited edition sets, and clothing come out for the fall/winter season.
So, it makes sense that I may go a little overboard on my shopping
(*Inner voice* "you can never go overboard when it comes to shopping").

You can watch the video haul here:

In no particular order, here are some of my favorite purchases (so far):

1. Too Faced: Glitter Bomb Palette

It's no secret that I love glitter, and this palette is like a glitter explosion!
These glitters are super versatile. There are 5 different ways to wear them!

1. Straight Up Eyeshadow: On a brush and placed directly on the lid. Minimal fallout, decent glitter and color payoff;
2. White, Brightening Base: It comes with a white eyeshadow to apply before the glitter shade of your choice. The result is a bright, glittery, lit-from-within appearance;
3. Black, Intensifying Base: The palette also includes a matte black eyeshadow that can be applied under the glitter shade. This combo gives a rich, vivid look against the sparkling glitter eyeshadow;
4. Damp Makeup Brush: Dampen a brush with water, dip in glitter shadow and apply to lid for an intense color and shimmer;
5. Ring-Finger, Center of Lid: To add a bit of extra sparkle to any eye look, dip ring-finger into a glitter shadow and press it onto the center of the eyelid.

My preferred method of application is using my ring-finger; it picks up the most glitter and color.
Too Faced also makes a glitter glue that helps keep every fleck of glitter in place.

#Bonus:

I received two free bonuses with my Too Faced order:

Too Faced: Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick in Melted Chihuahua

TF's famous liquid lipstick in the shade Chihuahua, a warm, neutral brown shade, with a comfortable finish.

Too Faced: Born This Way Concealer Sample

A nice little sample card of their Born This Way concealer.
Smooth, blendable, and I'm definitely thinking of purchasing a full-sized bottle.

2. theBalm: Balm Voyage Vol. 2 Travel Palette

Another cutesy palette from theBalm Cosmetics.
I got this on sale at Cosmo Prof.

9 eyeshadows ranging from matte to shimmer finish and light to dark shades.
They have excellent staying power, and no creasing, even without a primer.
2 Blushes one in pink and one in coral, both shades blend nicely on the face.
1 highlighter in a champagne-y shade gives a subtle glow.
1 bronzer shade, which honestly, made me breakout.
That does not mean it will make you breakout, because everyone's skin reacts differently.
None of the other items in this palette made me breakout.
2 Lip/cheek colors one in a rosy shade and the other in a coral-y shade.
They give a nice tint of color to the lips. I don't use them on my face.

A great travel palette because it has everything you need to create a look on the go.

3. Bath & Body Works: Lotion, Shower Gel, Fragrance Mist

I am obsessed with Bath & Body Works winter scents!
So, I tend to go a little crazy when they are rereleased each year
(like climbing a shelf to get the last shower gel. I DO NOT recommend trying that).
And with coupons plus a 'Buy 3 Get 3 Free' sale, I was like a kid in a candy shop.

Vanilla Bean Noel: My all time favorite scent! I got the body lotion, shower gel, and Ultra Shea body cream because I like to channel my inner vanilla sugar cookie.
Twisted Peppermint: With fine fragrance mist & body cream, you too can be scented like a candy cane.
Winter Candy Apple: A light, sweet scent that makes you crave a candy apple.

Maybe I'm really just hungry for dessert when I shop for these.
Either way, these products are wonderful and not to be missed!

4. Too Faced: Dream Queen Limited-Edition Make Up Collection

I wait all year for Too Faced's seasonal makeup collection to arrive at Sephora.
And this year's has not disappointed!

24 beautiful and highly pigmented shadows
2 soft, blendable blushes
1 Shimmering highlighter
1 Bronzer shade
+
Hangover RX Setting Spray
Dreamy Lips Ultra Plush Lip Gloss in Shade Pink Swan
Mini tube of their famous mascara
Fold-over bag

Such a fan of this set, I plan to do a separate review with swatches, so stay tuned!

5. Sephora Samples

First, I need to get this out there: REALLY Sephora?
You cut down the samples from three to two?
Half the time I didn't get the ones I chose anyway, so seriously?
I feel better now.

I am enjoying these samples though

bareMinerals: COMPLEXION RESCUE Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream in Vanilla 02, Natural 05, Tan 07, Chestnut 09
Dior: Joy

6. Sephora Bag

Okay, I forgive you, Sephora. I could never stay mad at you.
One of the beauty offers they had when I ordered was for a bag filled with goodies.
In this bag I got:

Briogeo: Rosarco Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème
Glow Recipe: Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
Fresh: Soy Face Cleanser
Caudalie: Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet
Lancôme: Définicils - High Definition Mascara
Urban Decay: All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray
Tarte: Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint

I have only had a chance to try a couple of these products so far.
I do love what I have had a chance to use!

7. DSW: White Mountain Lida Boot - Women's - Black

Since we are currently experiencing our second snow storm this season, I didn't buy these boots any time too soon.
These boots are warm, comfortable, and I love the buckles.
These are my new go-tos.

8. Kohl's: Sweater, shirt, slippers

Candie's: Chenille Eyelash Long Sleeve Top in Soft Mauve

This is the softest, most comfortable sweater I've ever worn.
It comes in several colors, and I want them all 😄

SO: Plaid Button-Front Shirt

I'm such a sucker for plaid.
Every time I go to Kohl's, I head for the 80% off section and always buy some plaid.
Another color to add to my collection.

MUK LUKS: Scrunchy Boot Slippers

LC Lauren Conrad: Plush Boot Slippers in Gray

I'm such a nerd, but I love slippers!
Partly because I'm always cold, but also because these are incredibly cute!
Both of these are crazy comfy and let's just say it, adorable!

There you have my fall beauty/shopping haul (so far!)
I will do separate reviews of some of the makeup products, so be sure to subscribe via email so you are the first to know when they are posted!

ipsy | October 2018 | Review

October seemed to fly by for me!
But my October ipsy bag is not one to be forgotten.

October 2018 Glam Bag

October's theme was ipsy after dark.
"Who said nights were for sleeping?"
I'm kind of a nerd, so I say nights are for reading, but I guess it's kind of the same philosophy 😆

October's products came in this lovely red bag, embossed with a masquerade mask with flowers.

You can watch my quick video review here:

Now for the good stuff!
A review of the products I received in my October Glam Bag:

1. GLAMOUR DOLLS: Mascara

A full-sized, carbon black mascara from Glamour Dolls.

Pros: -Thickening & volumizing. It made it look like I had a million lashes
-True black color & buildable. The perfect black and it can give as much length as you want (a little or a lot)
Cons: -NOT waterproof. It doesn't claim to be waterproof, so that's okay, but if you plan to watch The Notebook, or just have a good cry, this is not the mascara you want to use.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✩ (4 out of 5 stars)

Overall: This a fine mascara that gives excellent volume and lengthens. Only real drawback is it is not waterproof, which it does not claim to be.

2. NAKED COSMETICS: Loose Pigment in Rain Forest RF-05

This is a super fine, loose pigment. It blends on lids so smooth and lasts all day.
This is the third loose pigment I have received from Naked Cosmetics (likely because I keep giving it rave reviews in my ipsy profile).
The three that I have are totally different shades, and I'm more than pleased to add this olive green to my collection.

Pros: -Buildable and good color payoff. The shade can go on sheerer for a more subtle color or can be built up in intensity to the shade that appears in the container.
-Shimmer finish. The finish stays shimmery and sparkly for many hours.
Cons: -Fallout. As with most loose eyeshadows, there is some fallout under the eye. Nothing major though. For me it's not a deal breaker, as it can be cleaned up easily with concealer.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐✩ (4 out of 5)

Overall: A very nice loose eyeshadow with subtle shimmery elements that reflect in the light. The color is more neutral and earthy. Minimal fallout that is easy to clean up.

3. BEAU GÂCHIS: Eyebrow Brush

A sleek, angled eyebrow brush with soft, but firm bristles.
Not only does it work perfect for filling brows, it can also be used for eyeliner, or lipstick.

Pros: -Precise lines. I mainly use angled brushes for lining my top and bottom lash lines and this brush gives perfect lines, even for cat-eye looks.
Cons: -None.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars)

Overall: A terrific brush with multiple uses, very versatile.

4. M·A·C: Little Lipglass in Love Child

I literally screamed with joy when I saw a MAC product in my bag!
This mini-sized, plumby shade of their famous lipglass filled me with glee.

Pros: -Shiny and comfortable. Not overly sticky like other glosses and it has an unbelievable shine.
-Versatile. This gloss looks great on its own or over a matte lip shade.
Cons: -Like many glosses it don't last as long as a lipstick.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars)

Overall: Wonderful shade, great formula, and a light vanilla scent make this an all-star in my book.

5. ORIBE HAIR CARE: Dry Texturizing Spray

As you may know from some of my previous posts, I'm not a big fan of haircare products in my subscription bags because I rarely use them.
However, I am really feeling this texturizing spray from Oribe.
It is similar to a dry shampoo but 10X better!

Pros: -Doesn't just soak up oil. It adds volume and texture, it made my hair look like I just had a blow out.
-No residue. You know how with some dry shampoos you have white, powdery residue to fight with? Not with this little guy, it gave a perfect finish.
Cons: -None.
My Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 out of 5 stars)

Overall: Gives a perfectly finished, freshly blown dry texture with no white residue.

Here is one look I created with some of my October ipsy products:

Products:
M·A·C: Little Lipglass in Love Child
NAKED COSMETICS: Loose Pigment in Rain Forest RF-05
GLAMOUR DOLLS: Mascara

Pumpkin Spice Latte | Makeup Tutorial

It's that time of year again!
Pumpkin spice is making an appearance in all sorts of foods and beverages.
Pumpkin spice coffee, pumpkin spice pastries, pumpkin spice cereal, pumpkin spice marshmallows, pumpkin spice nachos, etc.

Okay, so I made up that last one (I hope).
Honestly, I love pumpkin flavors.
I don't care if it makes me "basic" or whatever the kids are calling it today 😁
So, I figured why not do a pumpkin spice makeup look to keep up with the fall season

What Will We Need?

1. Foundation & Primer: Kick things off with a decent foundation that matches your skin tone. I used an Almay favorite (product details below) and I used an eyeshadow primer so my shadow would go on in the intense, orange pigment I wanted.

2. An Orange Eyeshadow & Bronze Shadow: A warm, frosty orange eyeshadow all over the lid is the main ingredient, for a dash of cinnamon I used a bronze pencil shadow in the crease and blended a warm, matte brown shadow over it.

3. Brown Eyeliner, Black Mascara & Highlighter : Line upper lash line and lower waterline with brown pencil liner, and then coat top and bottom lashes with volumizing mascara.
Top off the drink- er, eye with some whipped cream, an iridescent white highlighter on the browbone.

4. Contour, Highlight, Blush: Take a contour shade under the cheekbones, then I used a peachy eyeshadow as the highlighter on top of the cheekbones (another option is Too Faced's Sweet Peach Highlighting Palette) and a coral blush to blend it all together seamlessly.

5. Brown Lipliner & Orange Lipstick: Take an umber shade lipliner and line lips, fill in lips with a true orange liquid lipstick.

If you want to add a little sprinkle of nutmeg, you can use a light brown eyeliner to give yourself some freckles 😊
