Esme | The Slippery Slope: Part 1 | ASOUE | Makeup

Dear Reader,
The horrors you will encounter in this post are too numerous to list and you may prefer not to read it at all.
As a dedicated blogger, I have pledged to record and chronicle the depressing makeup of the Netflix adaption of A Series of Unfortunate Events. So I must delve deep into the cavernous depths of ASOUE. You on the other hand, may delve into some happier post.

(Paraphrased from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events Book the Eleventh: The Grim Grotto)

Now that we have kicked off Season three with Kit Snicket's makeup, we are on to the ever so "in" style of Esme Gigi Genevieve Squalor.
Her first look (whilst travelling through the Mortmain Mountains) is from the end of The Carnivorous Carnival in Season two. That tutorial is here
So we are starting with her first "official" makeup from Season three.

(Picture via my Netflix account. Lucy Punch as Esme Squalor from A Series of Unfortunate Events S3 E1 The Slippery Slope: Part 1)

Esme's first look is from the campground on top of Mount Fraught, where she is plotting with Count Olaf and the rest of his theater troupe.
And this is the makeup look we'll be recreating today (minus the pigtails, jewelry and fur snowsuit).

In case you are developing "Mount Fraught Syndrome" you can check out my step-by-step video tutorial here

What Will You Need?

1. Eyelid Primer & Gray and Silver Eyeshadows: Start with a thin layer of primer on lids and then press a gray shimmer shadow of outer 2/3 of the eyelid and top that with a silver shimmer eyeshadow.

2. Golden Bronze & Dark Gray Eyeshadow: Place a golden bronze-y shadow on the remaining 1/3 of the inner eye and then gently carve out the crease and the outer "v" of the eye with a matte gray eyeshadow, and blend.

3. Liquid Liner, White Liner & Black and Silver Shadow: Line upper lash line with a black liquid eyeliner pen and wing it out slightly, take a white eyeliner pencil and run it along the lower waterline, then use a black eyeshadow to trace the lower lash line to add intensity, then trace the silver shadow from the lids under the black shadow.

4. White Shadow, Lengthening Mascara & Dramatic Lashes: Take a shimmer white shadow and highlight the browbone, use a lengthening mascara on the top and bottom lashes, then apply false lashes, the cornerstone of any Esme look.

5. Contour Shade, Highlighter & Red Lipstick: Use a light brown shade to contour under cheekbones, then take a bright white highlighter and hit the tops of the cheekbones and under the eyes, finally, use a bright red liquid lipstick on the lips.

And...

Now you're ready to terrorize orphans on mountain tops while looking for the last safe place and the elusive sugar bowl.

Once again, you can check out the video tutorial for this look here
