the Balm | Balm Jovi Rockstar Face Palette | Review & Look

"Balm Jovi" "Livin' on a stare" was the first thing I read on the cover of this album--er, palette and I was hooked!

And if the shades weren't enough to make you want to crowd surf, the names of the shades are clever and entertaining.

You get 12 head-banging shadows (well 8, and 4 lush classical shades),
1 far out shimmery disco highlighter,
 1 totally tubular pop blush,
2 lip and cheek stains, no duh!

As you can see in the video I used the eyeshadows Metal-ica (silver-white shimmer),
rem (matte purpley periwinkle),
Blink 1982 (shimmery soft brown),
Alice Copper (metallic dark copper-plum).

The shadows have great color payoff even without a primer.
The highlighter is very pretty and the blush is flattering on most skin tones.
The lip colors start sheer but can be built up to a stronger pigment.
The powders can crumble a little when you use a brush in them, but there is very minimal fallout when being applied.

This was my first video with my new Super Nova Diva Ring Light.
Still getting used to it but I think I'm going to like it.
I'm no longer at the mercy of the sunlight, or lack there of.

Philadelphia Eagles Inspired Makeup

Collage of five photos: Text reads "Ultima Beauty Philadelphia Eagles inspired Makeup". The Philadelphia Eagles are in Super Bowl LVII (57)!
And it is well deserved after the season they have hadπŸ¦…

I originally posted this Eagles inspired makeup look in 2018 for Super Bowl LII (which the Eagles won, btw).

I have updated it a bit for 2023 and added some dupes for the makeup products that have since been discontinued (Why? 😭)

You can watch my video tutorial here

The colors for the Philadelphia Eagles are midnight green, silver, black, and white.
Playing off the Eagles' logo, I attempted to create a "feather" like eye design.

How to create a Philadelphia Eagles Inspired Makeup Look

1. Eyeshadow Primer & Silver Shadow: To get a nice blank canvas to create our Eagles inspired eyeshadow, start with an eyeshadow primer all over eyes.
Next take a silver shimmer shadow and sweep that all over lids and bit into the crease.

I used the shade Mushroom by Urban Decay. At the time of this update (February 2023) it is still available for purchase πŸ˜€

2. Black Eyeshadow & Liquid Eyeliner: Use a black eyeshadow on an angled eyeliner brush to start to etch out a feather-like shape. Start by tracing what resembles a crown across the crease of your eye, extending the points at an angle to give a more feathery appearance.
Next, go over the eyeshadow with a liquid eyeliner. Add additional "flicks" with the liner to enhance the feather idea.

The eyeshadow I used was MAC Black Tied which appears to have been discontinued (gasp!)
But Dazzleshadow Extreme from MAC in the shade 'Illuninaughty' is very close.
The liquid eyeliner I used is Fierce Flicks by Ciate London and is still available.

3. Green/Blue Eyeshadow & More Liquid Liner: On another angled eyeliner brush I took a jade eyeshadow (the closest shade I had to midnight green at the time) and traced lines next to the black ones, at about the same angle.
I used more liquid liner and ran it across my lash line and winged it out to connect it to the line in the crease.

I used Maybelline Color Tattoo Pure Pigments in Never Fade Jade, which has been discontinued.
A dupe for it and an even closer shade to the actual team color is' Conjour Up' pressed eyeshadow from Colourpop Cosmetics. A very affordable emerald-like green.

4. Silver & Black Eyeliner + Mascara: Run a silver pencil liner along the lower water line.
Take a black pencil liner and do the same only across the lower lash line.
Give the lashes two coats of volumizing mascara, on top and bottom lashes.

The silver liner (ha-ha, get it?) I used was Ulta Gel Eyeliner Pencil in Silver Dust. The shade is discontinued but NYX Epic Wear Liner Stick Long Lasting Eyeliner Pencil in 'Silver Lining' is very close.
Smashbox liner & Tarte mascara are still on the market πŸ˜‰

5. White Pigment + Concealer + Highlighter: Take a shimmery white pigment on a small brush and tap it in between the jade and black shadows and in the inner corners of the eye for a nice highlight.
Clean up any shadow fallout there may be a liquid concealer.
Use a pearly light highlighter just on the high points of the face.

At the time of this update all three of these products were still available!

6. Vaseline + Eyeshadow: I didn't have a lip color in the right shade so I mixed my jade eyeshadow with some Vaseline to get a light jade gloss.
You can do the same with the Colourpop dupe; just scrape some shadow off and mix with Vaseline, or you could get a closer shade with something like NYX Shine Loud Shine High Lip Color in 'Self-Taught Millionaire'.

And then we get...

I wanted to create a play off of the Eagle's feathers with the flicks and angles of the shadows.

I didn't have the exact shade of green back in 2018 so there is a slight variation on the shades but the overall idea of eagle feathers is still well represented.

Not the most wearable everyday makeup look but it's pretty fun for the Super Bowl.

A stronger lip color in a shade closer to the team's color would have worked wonders right here πŸ˜…

I can't believe that was my "tripod" and my work station was a closed piano! How things change πŸ˜†

New England Patriots Inspired Makeup

It's that time of year again: Super Bowl time!
This year we have the Patriots and Eagles.
I am not a diehard fan of either team, so the outcome of the game won't shatter my world, but I still plan to watch and wanted to do a makeup look for each team.

Let's start things off with the New England Patriots

Tried to play off their logo with the red and blue

The most complicated part was trying to get the red lines to be the same length and angle on each side. I was using the end of my brows for guides, and then came to the realization that they are not "exactly" the same shape. But at least we came close.

I considered using a navy lipstick but went for red instead.
I'm such a fan of NYX Primal Colors pressed pigments (the red eyeshadow).
The pigment is so rich and if you wet the brush first the color is even stronger.

Video here:

The quality of the video didn't come out as well as I was hoping it would.
It was a gloomy, rainy day and I work off natural light right now (stayed tuned for new lighting).

Metallic Teal Blue & Silver Eyeshadow

Hello, Beauties!
I want to share my latest makeup look and video with you.

I couldn't wait for my Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Palette to arrive.
Then when I heard the crash at the door and saw the UPS truck drive away, my heart sank.
Much to my dismay one of my shades was shattered.
And the palette was sold out (not anymore!)

But I knew I could fix it, "Fix it, Felix!"
So with isopropyl alcohol in hand and Wreck-It-Ralph quotes in my head I went to work.
My fix it video is too large of a file put in this post but here's the link to it on my Instagram:

Tada! Not perfect but definitely better.
Now onto our look.

Amp (pretty teal color) on the lids
Dive (Blue) through the crease
Glamrock (Silver) on the brow bone

Along with some silver liners and light pink lipstick

Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda Review and Look

Hey everyone,
just a little review and tutorial of Too Faced Boss Lady Beauty Agenda from Sephora.
Here we go:

Words to live by!

First, I love it! I always love Too Faced's seasonal palettes but this one is even better.
Some of the past palettes have had a few shades that were too powdery with really no color pay off and chunky glitter. But this one is not like that, it's fantastic!

It also comes with a cute little planner for 2018 with fun Too Faced facts.

And each month has a different face chart, so they give you 12 makeup ideas to get started.

And to top it all off it comes with a mini of their signature mascara and Melted Matte liquid lipstick in "Sell Out"

I'm super fair so some of the lighter highlighter/brow bone shades are hard to see on me.

I did the face chart from November "Sweetie Pie"

...And added some of my other favorite products

You can see the products in action here

New Video, New Address, New Makeup

Hey there beauties,
It's been quite sometime since my last post/video.
So, I will just quickly catch you up on a few things.

#1 New Blog Address

Due to a renewal miscommunication with the company that I purchased my original domain name from this blog address is now ultimabeautyOFFICIAL.com  because my original name is now being held for ransom (for more info click the link to my video below).

So, if you have an extra $25,000 just hanging around you can own a piece of Ultima Beauty history.
Just remember OFFICIAL on the end, all of my social media handles are the same.

#2 New Video on YouTube

Finally had a chance to make another video and you can see it here

#3 New Makeup

Of course there is new makeup that I am loving and want to share with you.
I give a quick summation of what I have been loving this year in my video.

That about covers it so far. Stay tuned, I have more makeup and beauty products to share!

XOXO Brittney
